Good morning from The Launching Pad! The Gemini Giant stands tall with his new owners Holly and Tully! I had a chance to still down and chat with Holly yesterday. She is a wonderfully positive and fun person! Make sure to stop by and support these folks, they are doing a fantastic job of fixing up the place! ##PicsOn route66 #Route66 #Wilmington #Illinois #GoodMorningAmerica #TravelTheUSA #RoadsideAttraction #MufflerMan#PhotoOfTheDay “Litchfield 66 Farm Scene” Found a little south of Litchfield, Illinois on Route 66 is this beauty of an old farm. I really enjoy the weathering of the old barn wood color and contrast between the reds and greens! The windmill is the cherry on top! Www.picsonroute66 “The last bend before the Strait Shot to Kingman”. Looking back east on old Route 66 toward Antares corner, the road takes a major bend, and the it’s a strait as an arrow shot into Kingman. Www.picsonroute66.com “The Frontier Duality”
Frontier Motel and Cafe, Truxton Az.
What I love most about this scene is the painter of the sign for the cafe made sure to make folks aware of the duality of the Frontier Phone Company logo on the phone booth at The Frontier Motel and Cafe!
www.picsonroute66.com “10am Gravois Ave.” I created this photograph from a very unique overpass on route 66 in St. Louis. This piece of infrastructure features overpass U-turns from either direction and a train line running through the middle. It appears to be constructed in either the 1930s or 40s. I’m curious if anyone has any further knowledge of this Unique piece of Route 66 infrastructure? Www.picsonroute66.com “7-Up”
One of the fabulous scenes at Gay Parita Sinclair, on old 66 in Paris Springs Missouri. Gay Parita is one of my favorite places to visit! Barb and George are always such great hosts and I always find something new to photograph. This is a scene I’ve studied many times, but this time it was the perfect capture. The warm fall evening light touched the old structure so perfectly.
Www.picsonroute66 “Sunset Cuba Missouri Route 66” There is no place I ‘d rather be than on old Route 66. It’s been 5 months since I’ve been on the old road. I’m really starting to long for more moments visiting my old mother road! This scene was shot on my last trip back in October, what a wonderful time it was! Great times with so many of my great 66 friends and solo moments alone framing up scenes along the trip that’s the best!
www.picsonroute66.com Thinking about my old friend Gary Turner, who would have been 74 yesterday.
While this man only spent a little more than 10 years greeting travelers on the Mother Road, he left his mark in the minds of everyone that met him and many that have not. Gary is a true Route 66 icon!
He told everyone he met, that they were now, "Friends for Life", and he truly meant it! Many folks dream of traveling Route 66, Gary's dream was to welcome those people.
Hats off to you my friend! I think if you often, and carry your spirit in my heart! “The Wheel” at the Wagon Wheel Motel, Cuba Missouri. In all of my Route 66 travels I’ve stayed here the most. Love the Master Blaster suite with the multi jet shower. No better shower wake up before heading out on the road for a long fun day of shooting! Cuba is a great little town that you can spend the day checking out. Friendly folks and great places to eat. “The Road of Unlimited Devotion” Route 66 - View from Garland Prairie. Route 66 in Arizona offers so many amazing views. This view, west of Flagstaff, looks back east with the San Francisco Peaks in the background. Route 66 is showing off her younger skin here with super vintage Portland Cement. Who wouldn’t want to travel this road?
